Picture This 187 - Hues Of Blue

I have the habit of taking photos of flowers in the local supermarket while I am waiting for Mr. Swiss who always seems to have something to buy in the kiosk opposite, but I might have to stop as the sales lady has started giving me funny looks.

Flower bouquet
Took this one in the garden one evening, must have been around August September as the Pampas was in flower

This is not exactly a work of art, but something completely different. This week I travelled to Zürich by train (blog follows when I have time) and I was determined to capture our nuclear power plant at Gösgen with its wonderful chimney belching out steam. You can also see it from the plane when you fly in that direction, the vapour cuts through the clouds. I only had my Lumix with me, so could not make such a perfect photo as the train was moving.

  4. Hi Pat!! Three lovely photos for the theme :-)) Really nice flowers in the first shot, I like the 'teasles' mixed in between them. Wonderful shot of the Pampas grasses, so beautiful against that sky. Good shot of the power station to finish....I like how the foreground gives the feeling of speed, while the subject is stationary.

I'm sorry the Blue Tit decided to visit me first!! LOL.

  6. Love the flowers. I see a few sprigs of Sea Holly in that arrangement, That grows here at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

I love the pic of the plants and the sky, the grasses in the foreground are glowing in the sunlight, giving it an ethereal quality.

I can't see the last photo. Flickr says it's unavailable.

  12. I love the flowers (I do the same thing and take pictures of the flowers) and the lovely blue sky with birds, but I must say your third picture is quite fascinating and intriguing. The smoke, the reflection and the blurring all make for a great capture!

  14. I like your attempt to capture the vapor from the train window. The photo of the sky with the pampas grass in the foreground is a good blend of colors. I would feel inhibited photographing the flowers with the sales person watching. Good for you. Great trio for this theme.
