Picture This #202 ~ Rocks

Hi all another great theme this week. One close to my heart as geology was a big part of my career as an oceanographer and I have always been passionate about rocks.

So I decided to go with rock in the landscape, which took me immediately back to one of my favourite road trips, Highway One California and BigSur. All these shots are from that shoot.

Highway One

You can see the road cut into the mountain side as a straight line across the rock face above the ocean.

  6. Hi Baz !! Three excellent shots for Anders' theme!! Love the mist coming in off the sea in the first shot. From that angle the road looks like it could be a fault-line in the cliffs. Great shot of the Native American communing with the ocean. Third one is my fave......love the pelican on the rocks!!

  7. Fantastic shots all 3, they are all breath taking beautiful. What an adventure that trip must have been. That pelican is the WOW. The light is amazing, must have been late afternoon? All golden reflections off the rock face.

If you are mad about rocks, you should come have a look at some of our dolomite caves here in South Africa. We have 2 not very far from where we live. If you look up Wonder Caves, that is 20min from home, Sterkfontein caves are 45min from here and Maropen as well is only 30min by car. Serioulsy you and Marci should plan a meet up here by us. Of course you can stay here and I can take Marci to see the giraffe and elephants and zebras and all too. LOL
