Picture This #201 ~ Water Related

Water is one of my favorite things to photograph so you know I loved this theme.

Sailing

One of the last pictures I took before leaving Florida this year.

Four guys and a pelican

These fishermen inadvertently hooked a swimming pelican. Gently they captured it, worked out the hook, and released it. After a bit, it flew away.

Raindrops

It rained one night and in the morning the rain drops on the screened-in porch acted like prisms whose multi-colored light I tried to capture.

  2. Hi Benni !! Love your three entries for Danette's theme!! The first shot is wonderful, like the pelican is flying over a million sparkling diamonds, which then seem to have followed you back and landed on the roof of the porch!! It's so good to see caring fishermen helping unhook the pelican.

  5. The first is wonderful. The water just sparkles and the scene is perfect. The capture of the fishers with the pelican is very good and the shot with the raindrops just unique.

  6. Terrific shot of the sailboat and the pelican. I love the sparkling water!

Poor Pelican. I'm so glad they were gentle with the bird. What an interesting capture. This would make a great post for the local paper, Benni.

    Pretty raindrops!

  8. Great moment you had captured in the first photo!
I am wondering what made you looking up at the last shot? was it the sound of the rain? :)

  9. Many thanks to everyone! Yes, sometimes the sea is like diamonds with the late sun on it. Very lyrical, Mitch. I am so glad you all like the fisherman picture - pelicans can weigh 40 pounds and are very strong so the men's actions were commendable. To answer Sophie's question, I took that picture on one of our first days in the rental. It had been raining all night, but stopped and we decided to have coffee on the porch. I saw the lights as soon as I stepped out and thought I would have more time and more days to capture the effect. But, alas, it faded in minutes and over 2 years I never saw it again.
