Picture This #201 ~ Water Related

Hi it's Danette, your hostess this week.

The theme I have chosen: Water Related (anything to do with any kind of water).
Thanks to all of you who encouraged me to try Flickr. It sure made posting to this group much easier! I can't wait to see your "water related" photos.

Alligator ...up close and personal

A huge jellyfish (stuck my foot in the photo so you could get an idea just how big)!

Something a little more pretty, waterlilies!

  3. A danger lurks in the murky water.

Not something you would want to step on.

    Very Claude Monet.

  5. Thanks for hosting Danette. Yes Flickr is a good site and this week they have improved it Must have known you were coming. Much easier to find the photos.
The alligator is uniqe, a very good take. That is a great capture of the jelly fish, they do grow big in the states. Waterlillies are a thankful flower for a photo, just beautiful.

  9. Hi Danette, great theme!! And three great pictures to go with it. I did the same thing when I came upon a jellyfish on the beach - put my foot next to it for scale. Your jellyfish is bigger and very interesting. Of course you were wise not to stick your foot by the alligator for scale.

Your water lilies are so tranquil - I love the slightly blurred edges that add to the serenity.

  13. Hi Danette, the photo of the alligator is terrifying. It seems that it's waiting for its prey. I was wondering if that is a Portuguese Man of War. Aren't they bigger than a jellyfish? I'm not a marine biologist. I do like how you put your foot in the shot to show the size of it. The water lilies are just lovely. Great theme!

    1. I am not sure, I am not a Marine Biologist either :) however this is the second jellyfish of this size I have seen. The last one was a Cannonball jelly fish and a little bit bigger and there was a Marine Biologist on the beach who said that was the first one she had seen of that size!

Both were from the southeastern US (North Carolina and Georgia)
