Picture This #236 ~ Trees And Anything They Produce

 My trees for this challenge: 

BUFFALO THORN TREE, I DECIDED TO SHOW YOU,  WHY THEY ARE CALLED THAT

The funny fruits or nuts from these trees, they call them itchy balls here, when they are ripe, they burst and naughty boys stuff them down unsuspecting girls tops ;-)

Once closer, you can really see the beauty of this flower, which is our National Flower and emblem for our Cricket Team as well.

    Hi Marianne!! Good to see you got yours posted in time this week!! Great shots, all of them. Wow, those Buffalo thorns are huge....I wouldn't like to accidentally back into one of those while bending down!!! LOL. Lovely Plane trees. I've seen them over here in some formal arboretums. I love Protea, the flowers are really beautiful. Only time I see them here is when I visit the National Botanical Gardens, they have them in the giant glasshouse.

    Great variety of trees you have in South Africa. The protea trees are certainly something completely different.

    Great shots of the trees in South Africa. The buffalo thorn tree is interesting. I'm sure that no one gets close to it. Lovely plane trees. I like that you took a closer shot of the flower from the protea tree.

    Thank you all for visiting. This was tough as trees are one of my passions. We have such interesting indigenous trees, I could have posted a whole blog. Maybe I should?

    You said it best, you do have interesting indigenous trees! The itchy balls tree looks very similar to a Sycamore! All of them are uniquely wonderful!

    Lovely trees, Marianne. I was looking forward to your post as I just knew your trees would be different and fascinating. The buffalo thorn tree certainly does not wish to be eaten! Great capture of its defense. And the Protea tree is beautiful with lovely flowers. All very nice.
