Picture This #251 ~ Housing

Congratulations to Baz for his Picture of the Week. It's a beautiful study of a still life in a window.

Well, I was close to being stumped by this theme. I searched through my folders and found what I believe is suitable. I haven't had much of an opportunity to shoot photos lately.

This is a corner shot of Mulbery Street in Manhattan known as Little Italy. You notice how one building is painted in the colors of the Italian Flag.

This is a photo of a apartment building in Manchester, New Hampshire. The name of the building is centered on scroll work. I liked the classiness of the architecture.

The last one is from our Italian tour. We were on a gondola ride. Venice has to be the most intriguing  city I have ever visited.

  1. Hi Robert! Very glad to see you back on here, specially this week when I am in charge of hosting the Challenge. Sorry if my choice of theme made you spend some time in search of suitable photos, however, worthy was the time spent with it. You share with us three very different styles of architecture, yet all very interesting and beautiful. I like the sequence of the photos... from the Little Italy in Manhattan to Venice in the real Italy....

  2. Hi Robert! Great shots. I love the one from Mulberry Street, and the ornate structures over the windows. The Manchester house is wonderful and I envy the residents who have the curved windows. You've done a nice job capturing Venice, Italy, a city I would love to see for its beauty and history.

    1. Hi Benni, I agree with your comments on the Manchester house. The residents in the curved windows have the advantage. I loved Venice and I hope you will get a chance to see it.

  4. Hi Robert!! Good to see you taking part this week!! Nice choice of photos for the theme. I like the building in the first shot......great idea to paint it the colours of the Italian flag, although the colours need to be brighter. Someone call the painters!! LOL. The Manchester building is interesting, but can't quite make out the name of it. Love the Venice shot. I've never been there, but I find the place fascinating nonetheless.

  5. Hi Mitch. Thanks for your comments. I could have placed myself in the center of the building and get the name. I was interested in getting the angle perspective.

  6. Very nice shots, Robert. I have some pics of Little Italy somewhere. We went for the festival "Feast of San Gennaro" and it was so crowded you could hardly walk...had to shuffle along in little baby steps. Did you know that this area was once the infamous slum called Five Points?

Lovely architecture in the second photo.

Love the light on the water in your Venice photo!

  7. Hi Debby. We went there a year ago. There was a feast honoring St. Anthony which is low key compared to San Gennaro. I do know that this was the famous Five Points. I saw Scorcese's film "Gangs of New York." I'm pleased that you liked the images. Thank you.
