PICTURE THIS #203: FANTASY FACTORY

Hi Deb! Fantastic choice of theme. It gave me fun... thanks!

These are my three  interpretations of fantasy,,,

1. A pair of high-heeled sandals made entirely of cooking pots and lids. Creation by the Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos.
fantasy factory

2. A couch on display at the Museum of Design and Fashion (Lisbon)

3. The  late dictator Salazar's head on a Dalmatian dog's bodyfantasy factory (2)

  2. Three very interesting and creative photos of interesting artwork. I love the shoes, they are so unusual and one could have a long discussion about their meaning! When I first looked at the lips I didn't see it was a couch. I love how you captured it. The bottom one is also most interesting and I wonder what it says about the artist's opinion of Salazar.

    1. I agree with you, Benni! The meaning of those shoes would be a good topic for a long conversation... I can't issue any opinion on behalf of the artist, but I think he wanted to show how he was against the dictatorship...

  5. Hi Belita!! Three fabulous photos for Debby's theme!! Having seen your recent post about Joana Vasconcelos, I already like her work, so I really like that first one. Had to smile at the second one. Definately what would be called a 'Love Seat'!! LOL. The last one is also very interesting. I wonder what the artist was trying to say?

    1. As I mentioned above, I would say that the artist perhaps tried to emphasise how Salazar ruled the country in the fashion of a despot. In Portuguese colloquial language, if we say 'he is a dog' we're insulting someone...

  10. Hi Belita, these definitely fit the theme. Love the sculptures made of pots and lids. How creative. What a political statement expressed in Art. I don't know anything about Salazar. The second image is interesting. I believe there is a Museum of Fashion and Design in New York City.
