Picture This #214 ~ Person, Place And Thing

Thank you, Debby, for an imaginative theme!! So many to choose from and I even shot one especially for this week, but then decided not to use it. Later, I am sure.

TE, FL 2009
Our first Florida trip. Tom got a very bad sun rash and this was the only long sleeved shirt I could find. He thought he looked like a giant mango.

Chicago, The Bean 2
Chicago reflected in "The Bean", a large stainless steel sculpture the shape of a kidney bean.

Dream Cruise
At the Detroit "Dream Cruise" I decided to try this picture inspired by many of Nico's shots. I don't think he needs to worry; I am quite the beginner at this. Our red Corvette reflected in the headlight of a 1930 Ford Model A coupe.

Cropped a little tighter. Definitely something I can play with. Thanks, Mitch.

  1. Hi Benni !! Three great shots for this week's theme. Had to laugh at Tom thinking he looked like a giant mango!! Really cool second shot!! I've always wanted to experiment with shooting reflections in The Bean. Hope to get there one day. I like the idea for your third shot. Did you try cropping it in some, see how it looks?

    1. Thanks, Mitch! I was careless and left that day with a low battery so I didn't get many shots off. Tried cropping but at some point the maroon car loses identity. But it's a good suggestion and I will play with it some more.

    2. That was a great suggestion, Mitch. I cropped it very tight and it looks great. May add it on here. Thanks.

    3. Good crop, looks a lot better!! First thing I do if I have a shot that didn't quite come out as I wanted is ask myself 'would it look better if I cropped it?' It's the simplest of all editing tools and yet can often be the most effective.

  2. The first shot is really good. I think the mango shirt really lights up the photo. Very good catch on the second shot with the reflections. The third is a very good idea and a successful shot.

    1. Thank you, Pat. Reflections fascinate me and, as I say, Nico's shots are my inspiration as well as others who are successful with reflections in water and so forth.

    1. Thanks, Debby. Wonderful theme. The Cruise is great with really old cars and newer cars and everything in between.

  8. Hi Benni, some great photos. Love the mango shirt.Hope Tom didn't suffer a lot with the sun rash. The reflection in the Bean is fantastic. I love reflection shots. The shots of your car's reflection in the classic car are great. I like how you judt didn't settle for one shot.

    1. Thanks, Robert. Tom is very blond and has an awful time in the sun, thank you for your kind words. He has learned not to go out midday. I'm so grateful for Mitch's suggestion that I tighten up on the third shot. I love reflection shots too.
