Picture This #213 ~ Views Of My Local Landscape

The first photo is of the Long Meadow at Prospect Park, across the street from where we live. This is early morning off-leash hours and you see hundreds of dogs during these hours. We walk our Jack Russell (Bandy) here most mornings.

This next shot is another area of Prospect Park called the Lullwater.

The last photo is the Audubon Center at Prospect Park, also in the Lullwater area.

  1. Hi Debby !!! Three fabulous shots for Baz's theme. That first photo is dogtastic :-)) Must be great to meet all those canines. The second shot is beautiful. You wouldn't think to look at it that it's so close to one of the world's great cities. The last shot is really nice, too.

  2. I have heard of dog parks in the States and find it a good thing and now have actually seen one. Love the photo. Two beautiful photos of Prospect Park and all in your back yard you could say.

  3. There are actually dog runs in NYC. Ours is just a lengthy fenced in area, with gravel, Two sided, one for big dogs, one for small. It's quite a walk from our house, though. We take Bandy there once in a while. It's the only time he's let off the leash outside. He responds to commands very well in the house, but when you get him to the park, he's too excited to be obedient. We haven't even tried him off leash at the park, yet and we've had him for about 6 months now. I'm afraid we would lose him. Prospect Park is HUGE!

  5. I am so glad you can show us the green and beautiful parts of NYC. I love the people playing with their dogs in the shadow of the skyscrapers. Is the Audubon Center (magnificent) dedicated to the drawings of John J. Audubon? Lovely pictures.

    1. It is on the list of the National Audubon Society. But I've never seen anyone there that knew ANYTHING about birds at the center. It's nice that they kept the name, I suppose even though they don't seem to have any presence there. It's a shame really. I would find it really useful.

  6. I've been to New York, but never visited this park, it looks very nice.
I like the first shot, it expressed the New York I know so far (full of people everywhere) :)

  7. Three beautiful shots of that park. I think, many people like me, when travelling to NY city, they focus on the Central Park... Thanks for introducing another gorgeous green area...

    1. Prospect Park was designed by the same men as Central Park. Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. It was meant to be kept on the rustic side. Sadly it has fallen into disrepair. Some effort is being made to restore it to it's former glory. They just can't do it fast enough to suit me.
