Picture This #215 ~ Red

Congratulations Benni on your photo chosen for this week's banner. Beautiful reflection of Chicago in The Bean.
Next to Mitch, thanks for choosing the color Red for this week's theme. Red is a dominant color and I could have selected many photos with the color. It's not an obscure color that's for sure.

I was driving through an orchard a few years and passed this red shed. I liked the contrast of the flowers colors with the shed.

We went to New York City close to the Christmas Season. This was set up in a fountain on 6th Avenue. It offset the drab color of the buildings across the avenue.

I have a wonderful hibiscus shrub in my yard that produces these bright red flowers. I took a close up shot of the flower. I wanted to photograph the stamen and the folds in the petals.

The classic red car is parked in the driveway of Hildene in Manchester, Vermont.

Great close-up flower shot, really nice.
I think I saw that red car in your other photo, it's so classy and elegant.

    1. Thanks, sophie. Those red Christmas balls are that size. You're right about the red car in the earlier photo. This is closer shot of it. Thanks for your comment on the hibiscus flower.

  2. Robert, I am in awe of your first picture. It really captures me. Well done! Love the balls in New York, where everything is bigger than life. I've always wanted to show off the intricacies of the hibiscus, you've done such a nice job on that macro. And of course that great old car in front of the Hildene. My husband (he of the sun rash) is watching football or could tell me what model and year. Perhaps a 30's Packard? So classy!

    1. Hi Benni, thanks for your comments. When I saw those flowers in front of that red shed I had to stop and compose that shot. You're right about everything being big in NYC.I was kind of amazed myself about that shot of the hibiscus. I don't remember the model and year of the car. It did belong to the last occupant of the home.

  5. Hi Robert!! Fabulous shots you've posted for my theme. The very dark-red of the shed is a nice contrast to the red flowers in the first shot. Great shot of the Christmas balls in New York!! They really stand out. I love the macro shot of the Hibiscus. It's not easy to get a good shot of a Hibiscus stamen that's in focus it's entire length. Well done!! Fantastic classic car in the last shot, beautifully maintained.

    1. Hi Mitch, the first two shots were compelling to take. Thank you for your comment on the hibiscus. The curator of the historic home does well placing the classic red car in front of the home.

    1. Thank you, Pat. I don't know if that fountain always has the same theme every Christmas. This photo was taken in 2009.
