PICTURE THIS #214 ~ PERSON, PLACE AND THING

Excellent theme with loads of interpretations, Deb!
My contributions were all captured during my latest trip. I like the top one for the scene that I can't see in Portugal. Whenever I go abroad, I always try to play golf in the country of my destination. Before my departure from Lisbon, I already knew where I was going to play and had made sure that I wouldn't need to carry my heavy golf bag: shoes, glove, tees and 2 balls were enough. The golf club would provide a golf set and a cart. The course was nothing special if compared to Portuguese ones or any others where I have already played. The variety of high-heeled shoes was amazing. Once, I visited a shop in Bratislava, and as I saw the stiletto shoe on display, I asked permission from the shop-assistant to take a photo. Other than kind she satisfied my curiosity about the price of the pair: €3,350 (equal to US$4,482)!!!

  1. I would love to sit on that horse-run vehicle, slow pace going around the city. :)

  2. Hi Belita!! Three great shots for Debby's theme. Good shot of the horse-drawn carriage. They are a nice change from other forms of transport. Nice hotel in the second shot, but I see what you mean about the course not being special. Wow, those are very expensive shoes!! Are the gems on them diamonds??

    1. Thanks Mitch! The hotel was nice both inside and outside. The golf course was not compatible with the hotel, the reason why I thought it would be better to post a photo of the hotel and the putting green... not any image of the fairway. Nobody was playing but a crazy Portuguese woman, only, LOL! My 1st time to see shoes that expensive. I don't think they were real diamonds, otherwise the price would be much higher. Probably, fake ones but of high quality.

  4. Nice! I haven't been in a horse drawn vehicle since my childhood days. We'd have hayrides (not the romantic types) around the hay fields with a youth group from church. Riding in a horse drawn carriage seems like such a romantic notion, doesn't it? The guy on the back of the carts looks very interested in the photographer. Almost looks as if he was winking at you!

Pretty Golf course and hotel. You sound like a connoisseur of golf courses, Belita. Do you have a favorite?

    The stiletto is sooo sexy!!!

    1. Thanks, Deb, for your kind words.I don't know whether riding in a horse drawn cariage is romantic but I'm sure it's good in therms of sustainability. I think every player has his favourite golf courses. If I were a rich woman I would play again and again the Evian golf course (France). It's a fabulous course in every aspect.

  5. Hi Belita, great pictures as always. The man in the carriage looking at us makes the shot special for me. Love the green of the golf course and the hotel behind. What a shoe!! I am truly in awe, I could never wear that, but it might be fun for an evening to slip out of my sneakers (running shoes) and get all dressed up. Love the furry background.

    1. Thanks Benni! I think he was looking in that way because I was taking the photo while running on a bus. That hotel was much nicer than the course. The hotel's owner is a former movie actress. Those shoes would be out of my shopping list... too sophisticated and lavish...

  6. Three very interesting shots. For me the shoes really take the limelight. Can you wear them as well, or are they just to look at. great captures all three.

    1. Thank you, Pat!I would never wear such shoes for two reasons: I don't like that high heeled, the style doesn't fit me and the price was too high for something that may touch dirty pavements.

  7. These are three interesting shot, Belita. The people riding on the wagon seemed to be enjoying the ride and probably the scenery. Did the man notice you taking the photo? It seems that he is looking towards you. I like how the hat shades his face. Good outdoor shot of the hotel. That is a glamor shot of the stiletto!
