Picture This #218 - Walls, Fences Or Gates

Congratulations Nico for your photo selected for this week. The architecture of Chambord is amazing.

Mitch, you selected a great theme. It does open to many interpretations. Glad to read upon your safe return.

I discovered this dilapidated gate on a lane in Branford. This little hamlet is by the shore.

We were in Salem, MA walking through town. We passed this side street and I spotted this house and gate. I found it charming.

This image is a frieze from the Chinese Cultural Center in Philadelphia's China Town.

  1. Hi Robert!! Three terrific photos for this week's theme!! It's a shame the gate in the first shot was allowed to get into such a condition, but it does makes for a really interesting shot. Beautiful little house in Salem. I love all the climbing plants on the fencing. Very ornate frieze in the third shot.

    1. Hi Mitch. I did post this first image in my blog a few months ago and I thought it was appropriate to include it here. That side of the house is neglected. I think those flowers growing on the gate are morning glories. I selected the last image because it was on a wall. Thanks for your comments.

  2. Poor abandoned gate.

Lovely porch surrounded by flowers and ivy.

    Truly amazing work of art.

  3. Nice three shots, Robert! The flowers in the first shot make the fence look pretty, even if it's dilapidated. Some romantic feel in the second. Nice typical Chinese style frieze ...

    1. Thank you, Belita. The flowers in the first photo did beautify the scene. I wanted to take another shot of that gate at a different angle. I wanted to include the house. We walked past this cultural center and liked this frieze.

  4. The first shot is very interesting. How nature has taken over and the gate fits perfectly. Again nature takes over on the front of the house, very good shot. The third photo is an interesting frieze.

    1. Yes, Pat, I agree that nature has taken over. If there weren't any flowers it would not have been an interesting photo. The frieze is interesting.

  6. Hi Robert! Is the little hamlet abandoned or is it just the fence that is fallen into disrepair?

I especially like the morning glory vine climbing the fence and roof in your second shot.

Love the frieze, too. Elaborate work.

    1. Debby, the hamlet, Short Beach is a nice community. All of the houses are well kept except for this one. Actually, when you go around the corner the rest of the house is in good condition. Thanks for your comments.
