Picture This #218 ~ Walls, Fences Or Gates

Hi everyone, this is Mitch, and I'll be your host (again!!) this week. I've just been away for a week, visiting my folks and then Baz, and I forgot to arrange a host for this week!! Doh!!  I've only just arrived back Friday evening and had to think up something for the theme almost at the last minute.

I've chosen 'Walls, Fences And Gates', this should give a nice wide scope, and I'm sure you'll all have photos of some, if not all, of them. Here are mine:

1) 'Summer Through The Wire', near Carew castle

2) Gateway In A Wall, Picton Castle.

3) Undulating Fenceline, Dinefwr Country Park.

  1. Hello Mitch. Hope you had a great trip. Your examples are wonderful. Liked this theme as I have lots of fences and gate in my photo files so it was sort of difficult to pick just three.

    1. Thanks Lynda :-)) Yes, i had a good trip, my folks are good. I then travelled to Baz's and stayed there a few days. Despite the weather not being great, we did get several photo-shoots done. I thought you might like this theme :-))

  3. Wonderful shot of the fenced in meadow.

Beautiful and well-made arc in the gate.

    Good old fashioned wooden fence.

    1. Thanks Baz :-)) You wouldn't believe the drive I had, so many traffic jams.....took me over six hours rather than the usual four!!

  5. I was following your trip over at FB with Baz and must say am glad you returned safely after your meetings with all those other animals. A good choice. I like the first with the barbed wire, probably to keep the prisoners in the castle dungeon.A lovely view through the arch of the beautiful flowers and the fenceline has a sort of olde worlde charm.

    1. Thanks Pat :-)) I think the barbed wire is more likely to keep the local farmer's cows from wandering into the castle!! LOL.

Yes, Baz and I had several 'close encounters' with various animals. I take it you saw the one of the horse trying to eat my camera?

  6. Mitch, I love the clouds above the barb wired fence. Beautiful scene through the open gate. Reminds me of the children's story "The Secret Garden". I like what you did in the third photo. The viewer's eye moves along the fence.

    1. Thanks Robert :-)) Funny you should say about the second shot reminding you of the 'Secret Garden', I used the photo in another group some time ago, and several commenters said the same thing.

  7. Welcome back, Mitch! Hope you had a safe and enjoyable trip!
The theme is good but your shots are much much better than it. Interesting to see summer through barbed wire... beautiful shot of the gateway... love the depth of field effect in the last... very pretty undulating fence.. The second is my favourite...

    1. Thanks Belita :-)) I think if I had to choose my own favourite, it would be the second one.

  8. Welcome back, great theme!
I just love the barbed wire fence. A fabulous contrast with the blue sky and grass. The middle shot is charming as can be. Arches always seem to add loads of character to any window or doorway. The simplicity of the spit rail fence is fantastic (reminds me of my home state too).

    1. Thanks Danette :-)) That first shot was one of my early ones, taken with my first digital camera, a small point & shoot. It still stands up well against my later shots.
